Arun Vijay, who was last seen in director Karthick Naren’s Mafia: Chapter 1, has over five projects in the pipeline. On July 5, 2019, the actor announced his new film, Boxer, and termed it one of his ambitious projects. He worked hard for several months to play the role of a boxer.

However, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Boxer has been put on hold for now. Today (June 24), Arun Vijay took to social media to share a new still from the film. In the photo, he can be seen wearing a stylish suit with a braided hairstyle.

In a statement, Arun Vijay asked his fans to wait for an official announcement from his side. He further added that he worked extremely hard to build his body and took professional training to learn the sport.

He wrote, “A lot of you have been asking me about my film #BOXER for which I am equally excited as you all. I had been working very hard to prepare myself for the said project, but have not started full-fledged filming yet. As this movie requires a lot of effort & commitment both physically and mentally, it has to be worked on a time frame which can only be done with clarity from the production house. So kindly wait for an official update from my side regarding the project. Thank you, AV. P.S. Until then here’s a pic for you’ll (sic).”

Meanwhile, there are rumours that all is not well between Arun Vijay and the producer Mathiyazhagan as they have released contrasting statements. Yesterday (June 23), the producer took to Twitter to reveal that producer Hema Rukmini will announce an update regarding the film at 5 pm today.

It is still unclear if Arun Vijay and producer Mathiyazhagan are on good terms with each other.

Directed by Vivek, the sports film features boxer-turned-actress Ritika Singh as the female lead. The film will have music composed by Leon James, cinematography by Markus A. Ljunberg and editing by Madan.
