Coronavirus: 2 more infected patients die in J&K’s SKIMS, death toll reaches 109

Sources have confirmed two more deaths in Jammu and Kashmir. The total death toll in the Union Territory now stands at 109.

Two more patients infected with coronavirus — one each from Kulgam and Sopore — have died at SKIMS in Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night, officials said on Thursday.

They confirmed that two patients who died at SKIMS include a 55-year-old man from Yaripora in Kulgam and another 65-year-old man from Sopore in Baramulla.

Dr GH Yatoo, Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS, confirmed the deaths. He said the 55-year-old man was undergoing treatment since 22 June. He died during at night at around 12:10 am.

He added that the patients had hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with multifocal leukoencephalopathy.

The doctor further added that the 65-year-old man from Sopore, who was also admitted on June 22, died at SKIMS at 3:05 due to sudden cardiopulmonary arrest.

The patient was suffering from Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) besides HTN, T2DM and other ailments, he said.

With two more deaths, the coronavirus death toll in J&K has reached to 109 including 96 from Kashmir division and 13 from Jammu division.
