Coronavirus: Assam reports 102 new cases, state’s tally surges to 1,463

Assam on Monday registered 102 fresh coronavirus cases, including 30 travelers who arrived from Kuwait, taking the state’s tally to 1,463.

The new cases were reported from 14 districts of the state.

The fresh cases were confirmed by Assam Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In a tweet, Biswa said, “73 new cases of #COVID19+. 30 air travellers, arrived from Kuwait. 12 Cachar, 10 Kamrup, 9 Karimganj, 7 Kokrajhar, 2 Hailakandi, 1 each from Barpeta/Nagaon/Jorhat. Total cases 1,463.”

On the other hand, 99 patients were discharged from various hospitals on Monday after they recovered from Covid-19, Sarma said.

Out of the 99 patients, 46 patients were discharged from Kalapahar Hospital, 22 from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital, 13 from Tezpur Medical College Hospital, 8 from Silchar Medical College Hospital, 7 from Jorhat Medical College Hospital, two from Barpeta Medical College Hospital, one from Assam Medical College Hospital.

So far, 284 patients, who earlier tested positive for virus, have been discharged from hospitals.

So far, a total of 1,09,097 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in Assam, the Health department had said on Sunday night.

There are 1,172 active Covid-19 cases in the state.

Assam saw a significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases after inter-state movement was allowed during the lockdown.
