India’s COVID-19 tally went past the 17 lakh-mark on Sunday with an increase of 54,735 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry data showed. The country now has 17,50,723 virus cases.
It took India just 185 days since the first case in Kerala in January this year.
With 823 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths count has climbed to 37,364, the government said. India has been mainitaining a progressively declining low rate of fatality among COVID-19 patients, that currently stands at 2.15 per cent. “There are fewer numbers of active cases are on ventilators”, the Union health ministry said in a statement. As on July 31, only 0.22 per cent of the active cases were on ventilators across the country, it stated.
